Our beautifully converted accommodation is just 20 minutes from some of France's most unspoiled beaches, the Coast of Granite Rose.
Coat Ar Roux, located in Côtes d'Armor, North Brittany, between Morlaix (20km) and Guincamp (30km), is an 8 acre secluded woodland plot surrounded by woods and farmland.
It was built on what was an ancient cotton mill, one of eight that stood in the Lannion region in the 14th - 17th century.
The name Coat Ar Roux is Breton for Woods of Stone, hence the granite rocks and megaliths that are in abundance in the woods.
Every form of wild life can be spotted in the woods, including deer and birds of prey.

Although bookings are still being taken for the 2010 season and beyond, this lovely Gite is now for sale due to family illness.

Although Coat Ar Roux is secluded it is by no means remote. Within 3km in either direction you can find:
Plounerin, an ancient Bourg with its lake of special interest, l'Etang du Moulin Neuf, where you will spot wild Carmargue horses keeping the terrain down. There is an observation station where you can watch the wild life unnoticed. Three different walks of different lengths and ancient monuments are waiting to be explored.
Guerlesquin, A historic village famous for its feudal prison dating back to 1640.
There is a riding school and a recreational lake, where you can fish, swim or rent a boat.
While in Pounerin you will find a boulangerie and 2 small bars and restaurants, Guerlesquin features all amenities i.e. doctors, dentists, pharmacy, supermarkets, hairdressers, etc.
The N12 motorway is just 4kms away, giving easy access to all plces of interest and beaches of the Coast of Granite Rose.
You can travel along peaceful roads through pretty unspoilt villages. It's another world, come and experience it.
Grounds and Seasons
Spring brings the wonders of nature with clean clear fresh buds, primroses and bluebells galore make a blanket of blue and yellow. Easter bunny arrives with an Easter egg trail through the woods.
Summer is the perfect time for a family reunion. Grandma and Grandpa in the cottage, early evening dinners with bottles of wonderful French wines, make for a memorable get together.
Autumn Watch the mists that rise up along the valley below the property and sometimes leave Cot-Ar-Roux like an island in sunlight above the valley of rolling mists You can take colourful Autumn walks and meander through the woods picking chestnuts and return to the comfort of a warm farmhouse to cook them on the log burning stove.
Winter Côtes d'Armor has its own micro climate with milder winters than the rest of Brittany. Sometimes lovely snowy days can tranform the place into a winter wonderland.

The Farmhouse
The four bed-roomed farmhouse can accommodate 8 people plus a cot. We have 2 large double bedrooms and 2 twin bedrooms.

The Grange
The Grange is a modern barn conversion with 2 large bedrooms. The master bedrooms has an en suite shower room and walk in wardrobe. The second bedroom can accommodate 3 people. Both rooms are beautifully furninshed.

The Farmhouse
The Cottage, adjoining the Grange, is a Breton style one bed-roomed cottage with en suite shower room and walk in wardrobe.
