Coat Aillis is situated in the most beautiful and tranquil coast of Brittany the Côtes-d'Armor. Our complex consists of five well featured traditional stone buildings which have been tastefully renovated into very comfortable gites sleeping from four to 14 people to create the perfect family holiday - also with WiFi. The English and Dutch owners Simon and Paulien Pocock live on site with their three children.
Brittany is the prow of France, jutting into the Atlantic Ocean it has some of the best scenery around. The pink granite coastline offers an infinite variety of landscape - rocky headlands, tall cliffs, secluded coves, fine sheltered harbors, countless islands and wide sandy beaches. Resort towns with stately granite villas alternate with charming fishing villages of modest whitewashed houses. Tremendous tides recede hundreds of yards, laying bare broad sandy beaches, oyster beds and small fishing ports.
For people interested in out of season holidays the coastline is magnificent to walk we have also five different walks from the gites ranging from an easy half hour to a two hour hike through beautiful countryside and woods. The local beach at St Efflam has an excellent water sports centre where you can hire dinghies, sand yachts or try your hand at wind surfing. Tennis and horse riding are within 5 minutes drive. For the real French flavour we recommend Lannion market which is every Thursday morning and Plestin market which is every Sunday morning.
Site Facilities
Originally a working farm, Coat Aillis stands in it’s own ground of over two acres. The complex has superb facilities such as heated swimming pool, apple orchards, swings, barbecues, games room with table tennis, pool, childrens toys, last year we built a family sauna by the pool and and recently we purchased an all-weather pool cover so whatever the weather you can still have a swim. Each gite has its own private garden for outdoor eating and BBQ. On site you can relax by our swimming pool ( 12m x 6m - covered each night to retain the heat ) or let the children play in their own play area while you have a game of boule or just relax amidst the cider apple trees in the orchard.
Each gite has open-plan kitchens where snacks or serious cooking can be accomplished. A full compliment of pots, pans, plates and cutlery is provided along with gas cooker with oven, fridge and hot and cold running water. All the gites have a microwave oven. Fresh bed linen is provided at the beginning of your stay, you will need to provide your own towels and obviously food may be bought locally from the supermarkets (SUPER U) and the village stores. Plestin village being the nearest.We have recently installed a WiFi system so workaholics can keep in touch with work or check the football results.
The farmhouse has 6 bedrooms 2 of which have showers and washbasins. The downstairs TV children's room can be used as an optional 7th bedroom.There is a large well equipped kitchen with a dish washer, washing machine, large cooker, microwave oven, and is generally well kitted out to cater for large groups. The well hedged garden garden gives complete privacy from the world.
The Gites
Maison Principe is a detached cottage and is the largest property in Coat Aillis having 2 floors. The lounge and dining area are open plan and there is a dayroom off the hall which has a TV with video.This room can be used as an optional 7th bedroom as it has a bedsofa.There are six bedrooms a bath, 3 shower and 3 toilets.
This gite can comfortably sleep 14 people, it has a well equipped kitchin with large 5 burner stainless steel cooker with a big oven, microwave,dishwasher,washing machine ,large fridge/freezer with a plentiful supply of pots and pans to cook on.A large secluded/private garden with bbq and picnic table and chairs.The house has central heatting with radiators and a wood burner heater in the lounge to a to the ambience.
L'Atelier is a detached gite with a view of open cornfieds. The lounge kitchen and dining area are open plan with a staircase leading to the upstairs bedrooms. There are three bedrooms and two showers and two toilets. This gite can comfortably sleep 7 people, it includes a microwave,dishwasher, Hi-Fi,stocked drink cabinet,garden barbecue and central heating. There are magnificent views of sunsets from this gite.
Maison Crock is one of the larger gites at Coat Aillis. It has a very spacious and pleasant lounge area and dining room. There are three bedrooms and has a downstairs bathroom with toilet and cornerbath and upstairs shower and toilet. This gite can comfortably sleep 8 people, it includes a microwave,dishwasher, barbecue and wood burner stove heater in the lounge.Secluded garden, this gite can interconnect with Les Etables to accommodate 16 people.
Les Etables is a very well featured gite with a rustic charm.During the renovations a WW2 rifle was found hidden in the gable end wall.There are three bedrooms and two showers and toilets. The gite is converted from a horse stable and some of the original woodwork has been retained and used as the frame for the downstairs four-poster bed.It has a conservatory overlooking its own secluded garden with BBQ. This gite has been re-roofed and totally re-renovated so all photos of the gite interior have been replaced. The gite can comfortably sleep 8 people. It includes a microwave,a stainles steel 5 gaz burner cooker with large oven,fridge/freezer and wood burner stove heater in the lounge. It can interconnect with Maison Crock to sleep 16.
La Forge is one of the smaller gites (9 x 5m) at Coat Aillis. It is an open plan design with two bedrooms, pleasant front garden area, toilet and shower. This gite can comfortably sleep 5 people, it includes a television, barbecue and wood burner stove heater in the lounge.The roof was renewed in 2006 giving more space in the bedrooms and an upstairs toilet.
Le Pressoir is a very well featured gite having a new stone built extension. The Gite sleeps up to 10 is detached and has 4 bedrooms, one is on the ground floor and has its own shower with toilet adjacent.The kitchen features hand-built units and furniture with a dish washer and washing machine.The lounge is open-plan with a wooden floor and has frenchwindows leading onto a patio with bbq and views of the orchard. The wood burner complements the CH radiators. Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms one of which has a double and the other 2 each has a bunkbed and one single. Also has a shower/toilet on this level.
