Les Hirondelles is a French holiday cottage made from traditional Breton stone in the conservation village of Langrolay Sur Rance in northern Brittany.
Sleeping up to six people, this Brittany gite is popular for summer holidays and year-round breaks.
The cottage can easily accommodate a large family yet still allow an intimate feel for a couple seeking some peace and quiet in a friendly French village.
You can be assured of a comfortable break in this popular part of France.
One comment that we hear over and over again from visitors is that they did not know that there was so much to do in this area.
The attractive towns of St Malo, Dinard and Dinan are all within 15 minutes drive, as are long, sandy coastal beaches.
The village estuary beach is less than 10 minutes walk and is pictured on the right.
In summer, the cottage gives cool alternative to the strong sun and in winter you can curl up in front of the stunning fireplace.
Langrolay is one of the quietest places we have been, made more so by the huge expanse of estuary water at the edge of the village.
The cottage is situated in the oldest part of the village, within the church square. There is a small shop opposite, bar just up the road, post office and library.
For the kids, there is a village play area and field a few minutes walk from the front gate and as well as the usual swings and climbing frames there is a tennis court.
The beach is ideal for crabbing off the jetty, having a beach BBQ and some supervised swimming.
The estuary offers so much entertainment on the doorstep as well as stunning scenery, granite coastline and celtic history.
Medieval Dinan, the walled city of St Malo and the classy costal resort of Dinard are all within 15 minutes drive. All offer excellent restaurants, architecture and boutique shopping.
Cancale, famous for seafood, can be found on the coast after a 20 minute drive.
Plouer Sur Rance is only a few minutes away and offers bars, restaurants and additional activities at the side of the estuary. Rennes and the world heritage site of Mont St Michel are up to 40 minutes drive. Paris is up to 4 hours drive or 2 hours by TGV train from St Malo or Rennes.
So you have a large choice from walking, cycling, sailing, windsurfing, swimming, golf, estuary cruising, horse riding, fishing, bird watching, sunbathing, watersports, pinicing, site-seeing, architecture, history, ecology, sitting in bars watching the world go by, choosing a book from our library or just soaking up family life in France.
