Ty Gwyn is a perfect setting for a holiday. The cottage lies in its own private grounds of over an acre within a lovely tranquil village, giving guests a true experience of living in France. The accommodation is all on the ground floor. A terrace runs across the front of the house, offering an inviting outdoor dining area or a place to simply relax. The huge garden offers privacy and the garden games, furniture and barbecue invite guests to enjoy the outdoor space.
Ty Gwyn sleeps up to four adults and is also ideal for a small family; a travel cot is available on request. The restful master bedroom with its king size bed and country pine furnishings overlooks the front garden. A sprung mattress double sofa bed is available in the salon for additional guests. The bathroom, with its shower and bath, and a separate w.c are set opposite the master bedroom. The salon has views over the garden to the south and west.
A television, dvd and cd player; books and board games are all available for our guests to use in the salon; together with a collection of tourist information, maps and brochures. French doors lead from the salon to the kitchen/diner. This room is exceptionally well equipped to make you feel at home, with fridge/freezer; full size gas cooker, multi-function microwave cooker and double sink. Scales, a hand mixer; a slow cooker; coffee maker and all manner of gadgets are to be found in the drawers and cupboards. A pine table and four chairs complete the setting. A further set of french doors lead from the kitchen to the south facing terrace, creating a very pleasant spot for dining throughout the day and into the evening.
Things to do and places to see: Ty Gwyn is set within a small village and just 3kms from the nearest supermarket; cinema, swimming pool and restaurants in the nearby town of Baud. The lovely town of Pluvigner is just a little further, to the south. Camors is a very short drive away for the morning croissants and the nearest bars and restaurants. Swimming, golf, horse riding and high trees adventure are all moments away. The cottage is in a lovely area, full of historic and cultural interest. Some of the most gorgeous beaches of Southern Brittany are as close as thirty minutes away. The area offers a broad range of activities for all ages and all tastes. Chateaux; art galleries, markets, fêtes and fairs are all to be discovered nearby. The world famous standing stones of Carnac are always a popular attraction. The nearest standing stone is just a few paces away from the cottage within the forest at the end of the road, where you can also discover the village "lavoir" or laundry pool. Cycle trails and walking routes are well signed in the ancient Forest of Camors which surrounds the village. Other attractions in the Region include parks, zoos, an oceanarium, museums, outdoor theatre and musical events including a major annual international Celtic festival at Lorient.
Each summer a wonderful fête takes place just a short walk from Ty Gwyn that is not to be missed. Rural crafts and farming techniques from years gone by are demonstrated throughout the day. Dancing, eating and drinking are enjoyed in the open air. On many evenings throughout the summer, local towns host fest noz and night markets. The bars and restaurants throw their doors open. It is great fun to sit at a pavement café and watch the world go by, listen to the music, or join in the dancing. Morbihan has many living village museums where actors introduce you to daily life in Brittany in times past. Many towns in Brittany have marked trails which you can follow, to discover the history of old fishing ports, local culture, historical buildings or monuments. Other towns have become renowned as centres for arts and crafts.
Ty Gwyn is in an excellent location for a relaxing, restful holiday or as a base for countless activities. A huge variety of sea, lake or river water sports are within easy reach. Watersports are enjoyed throughout the Gulf of Morbihan from ocean cruisers to wake-boarders. Several pleasure boats offer visits to the some of the 365 islands or cruise the many rivers. The beautiful River Blavet is popular with canoeists and anglers, while walkers and cyclists take advantage of the flat tow paths. Adventure and excitement is just a cycle ride away at the high trees challenge in the Forest of Camors. Enthusiastic climbers can tackle the cliffs of the Côte Sauvage while sandy beaches and rockpools lure the sun lovers or those wishing to explore the costal habitat. Brittany offers fabulous food and fascinating fêtes, long clean beaches, history, music, wonderful views, lovely buildings and floral villages.
How to reach Ty Gwyn: Travel via the port of St. Malo and less than two hours by road, or via the port of Roscoff. Travel through the tunnel to Calais and then by road through Normandy, or via Cherbourg, Le Havre or Caen. Flights arrive at Brest, Nantes, Dinard and Rennes with car hire at all airports. We always send our guests route maps; background details and can arrange to meet and greet guests on request or provide keys for those familiar with the area. Many of our guests know the house so well now, they simply let themselves in.
Pricing and availability...
Ty Gwyn is offered from £265.00 to £380.00 per week. The beds are made ready to greet you. All services are included in the rental, except from October to Easter when there is a supplement for fuel costs. Special offers: We offer our guests a discount code to use when booking with Brittany Ferries. Returning guests and new guests booking before 31st December 2009 will be able to book at 2009 prices. For the comfort of all our guests we do not accept pets and strictly no smoking.
