Le Petit Bleu pour Deux is a 'gite de charme' for 2, and with its sympathetic renovation, nestling within 4 acres of beautiful gardens and fields, it provides rural tranquillity for those seeking to relax and escape the stresses of today.
However, it is situated on the Brittany/Normandy border thus offering you the chance for exploration 'entre terre et mer'; from the mediaeval chateau of Fougères to the amazing edifice of Le Mont St. Michel…………..
Le Petit Bleu in the hameau of La Grande Tournicotière is just a ten minute walk to the village of St. Georges de Reintembault with its boucherie, pharmacie, restaurant and bar but perhaps more importantly its boulangerie so that you can buy your morning croissants and baguette; an essential start to your 'vacances en France'.
In summer, take your breakfast outside, sitting on your private terrace to enjoy the peace and quiet of the gardens and verdant countryside beyond.
Stuart and Anne live in the farmhouse at La Grande Tournicotière and share their gardens with their guests.
Across the courtyard, they have renovated Le Petit Bleu, a former farmworker's cottage on the farm, to provide comfortable accommodation for two and although they are at hand to help, they are discreet and the private entrance and gardens at Le Petit Bleu enable their guests to holiday in peace and quiet.
There is private parking in the courtyard with secure gates which are locked overnight.
The accommodation at Le Petit Bleu is all on the ground floor and renovation has been sympathetic, with the keeping of the granite 'cheminée', the oiled chestnut beams, the lime mortar of the 'pierres apparentes' and rustic terracotta tiling has been used throughout.
It comprises a separate, light and airy kitchen/diner - all fully equipped; a salon with electric heating and with the benefit of a Godin woodburner - a supply of logs is always provided, so useful for those Autumn breaks; a double bedroom with armoire and a small bathroom with bath, overhead shower, w.c. and wash handbasin.
A high chair and travel cot are provided for baby but there is also a day bed in the salon in case of an extra guest.
All bedlinen, towels, teatowels, etc. are provided and changed weekly.
Stuart and Anne are passionate gardeners and have enjoyed turning almost half their 4 acre plot into beautiful gardens which they enjoy sharing with their guests; yours to enjoy for the length of your stay without having to lift a finger!
The potager is abundantly profitable in summer and guests can pick the fruit and vegetables in season to add to their meals, making them more enjoyable!
At this crossroads of Brittany and Normandy, it is so easy to drive to the coast to the sophisticated towns of Dinard and St. Malo; much loved by Edward VII, the small fishing port of Cancale; to savour its famous 'plats de mer' or last but not least to climb the steep, winding paths around Le Mont St. Michel to find the sanctuary of its magnificent Abbey – a haven of peace above the hustle and bustle below .
Or drive inland to the historic mediaeval towns of Fougères, Vitré and Dinan with their chateaux, cobbled streets, 'ancient quartier' of granite fortresses and colombage houses.
