Welcome to La Crèche - Plourin, 29
Finistère: where the land meets the sea and a warm welcome awaits you.
Rediscover old-fashioned seaside holidays that unravel the stresses of everyday life.
Situated on the westernmost tip of Finistère, La Crèche de Penn al Lann Garo lies at the end of a private country lane, just five minutes drive from the unspoilt rugged coastline and quiet sandy beaches famous in this area of France.
Known as Pays d'Iroise (Land of the Estuaries), the area suits all holiday makers; surfing, diving, sailing, horse riding, cycling, walking, bird-watching or simply building sandcastles and snoozing on the beautiful beaches. The cottage is ideally situated for visiting the islands of Ouessant, Molène and Sein or exploring the picturesque Abers (estuaries). The bustling medieval market town of St Renan is just five minutes drive away. Sympathetically restored, La Crèche combines Breton tradition with modern day comfort. Prices from just £200 per week. So pack up your bucket and spade, come and discover!
La Crèche – facilities
Sympathetically restored using local materials La Crèche sleeps up to six adults.
The cottage has been stylishly finished reflecting both its Breton roots and close proximity to the sea.
For a touch of romance, experience the traditional antique French double-bed in the main room; the sleeping loft has a gallery which overlooks the living area and is furnished with a comfortable double bed and a day-bed. The children's room features a bunk-bed (a cot-bed is available on request). The open plan lounge is light and airy with a wood-burning stove and galleried ceiling.
The large kitchen/dining area includes dishwasher, gas hob/electric oven, fridge and microwave.
The gîte is equipped with a DVD player, video and English satellite TV and a music system. A variety of DVDs are provided as well as a range of games and activities for all weathers and ages.
The modern well-appointed bathroom has a large shower and WC.
In the utility room you'll find a washing machine and ironing board as well as extra storage space.
While the gîte is non-smoking, step outside into the large garden with its outdoor table, chairs and sun parasol. Make the most of eating al-fresco in the purpose built BBQ shelter. Behind the gîte is a boules area and in a shady corner you'll find a children's play area: double swings, two slides and a climbing frame for the more energetic members of the family!
La Crèche has its own mini flock of hens, which you can feed and collect the eggs (for your own use) or we can do this for you, a treat for most children. We can't accept pets but along with the chickens, our pigs, and lambs (in season) will entertain animal-lovers.
The village of Plourin is just 5 minutes away by bike so enjoy the cycle for your freshly baked morning croissants. Or burn a few extra calories and cycle down to the port of Argenton (about 15 minutes by bike) where you can enjoy a coffee in the local bar whilst deliberating over the days patisseries.
You'll be spoilt for choice with restaurants dotted all along the coast. Discover crepèries, restaurants boasting fresh seafood, haute cuisine, traditional bistros and family pizzerias. Indulge your senses with a walk through the daily markets brimming with fresh locally grown vegetables and seafood caught that morning.
Pays d'Iroise – the local area
It's hard to resist the appeal of this northwest corner of France. Being exposed to the Atlantic winds, this western coast has a drama that justifies the name "Finistère" - the end of the earth. Whether your interests involve walking, riding, cycling, fishing, sailing, surfing, playing golf, or if you prefer more cultural and historic pastimes, Finistère with its rich tapestry of culture and tradition, is the perfect place for your holiday.
The variety of coastal scenery in the area means that there really is a beach for everyone. Sheltered sandy beaches, wide expanses of shingle, lively beaches catering for seaside sports, remote hideaway beaches perfect for quiet contemplation or rocky coves with secret caves ideal for rock pooling. There are inland beaches, coastal beaches and estuary beaches, amazing cliff top views and panoramic headlands. What are you waiting for - just grab your bucket and spade!
Location
We're situated on the north-west coast of Finistère just an hours easy drive from Roscoff ferry port, or two and half hours from St Malo. Brest International Airport (low cost flights with Flybe and Ryanair) is 30 minutes drive away.
